MATT's MAGIC

My Brother,

The first item I would like to address is to say, "thank you" for all the cards, prayers and support the members of our District have shared with Christina and I during this time of the loss of her step-father.   It is at these times in our lives when we feel the true meaning of friends and this is the ground roots of our Fraternity.  I also want to thank 1st VP Bruce Scherer and the other officers of the FMDOA for taking control and ensuring the March Stated meeting went on as scheduled on such short notice.  The program for the evening was the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, presented by Illustrious and RWB Brother Bill Powers. Illustrious Brother Powers touched on the upcoming Spring Class, named in honor of RWB Harvey C. Lowry.   RWB Powers also presented a very fine historical review of how the Scottish Rite came to be, from the roots that are recorded, to the Rite we know today. It was a very enjoyable and informative presentation and I want to thank him for the time and effort he put into it.

I’d also like to thank the Society of Past Masters for the wonderful annual banquet they hosted on March 29th at Raffels in Evendale.  The evening’s activities culminated in WB Lou Berling from Montgomery Lodge 94 being named as Outstanding Past Master of the Year and I congratulate him on receiving that award.

Thanks are also due to the many brethren and lodges who supported the MDA Bowl-a-thon at Brentwood Bowl on March 30th.  This noteworthy event continues to highlight the charitable efforts of our fraternity and the willingness of Freemasons to step forward and assist those in need.

There are seventeen inspections between this writing and the end of April, which will conclude the inspection season for 2008, so come out and enjoy an evening visiting other Lodges.

Please make it a point to attend the upcoming Scottish Rite Spring Class on April18th and 19th.   As previously mentioned, this class is named in honor of our own RW and Ill. Brother Harvey C. Lowry.

The next FMDOA Stated meeting will be hosted by Melrose Lodge # 671 on April 21st at the Norwood Masonic Center.  The program will be a presentation for the I-care and Ohio Masonic Home, as well as our annual veterans program.    This program is open to all family members.
